nearby resorts as Chamonix is
part of the Mont Blanc valley
so there is loads to ride. There
is a bus service between the
areas and is free with a season
pass. Whether staying in Argentiere
or Les Houces you are never
more than 15 mins from a lift. |

Laundry costs:
The bed linen will be washed on a regular basis, but
your clothes are up to you. The laundry facilities in
Chamonix are ok. We recommend using a laundrette service.
This takes all the work out washing and leaves more
time for riding.
Towels:
Bring your own towels
Drinking water: The
tap water in Chamonix is drinkable but occasionally
contains French bugs. As with any foreign country it
will take a while to get used to drinking it so it is
advisable to drink bottled water. This will cost about
3.9 F a litre in supermarkets.
The Electricity
In France is 220V so you can use all appliances
safely, you will need a continental adapter which is
available from Tesco's for £5.99. This will allow
the use of hairdryer, shaver, stereo and clippers.
Kitchen
The kitchen will be fully equipped and available
for everyone's use at all times. As it is a common kitchen
its cleanliness must be maintained at all times by ALL
seasoners.
Telephones are simple
to use and phone cards can be purchased from all Tabacs,
50F, 100F. The bigger the card you buy the cheaper the
rate you get. A special international card is now available
giving 50 minutes for only 50 FF. The best thing to
do though is get the person you're ringing to ring you
back!
Internet - 50
FF for a card (refunded if you open a free e-mail account
with the post office) Recharge the card for 30 FF there
after per hour. |

Freeriders will find the extreme centre of boarding
in Chamonix has to be at Argentiere at the top of the
valley in the Grands Montets, where the top cable car
takes you up to 3300m. You will have to fork out some
extra cash for this lift, but strangely not if you have
a day pass. From the top there are two black pistes
Point de Vue and Pylones, with heaps of off-piste alternatives.
From the top of the Bochard bubble you can head into
the Combe de la Pendant bowl for 1000m of unpisted descent.
The runs down are amazing with loads of cliffs, hits
and chutes, but the area can be avalanche prone. Another
area that is worth a visit is the linked area of Brevent
and La Flegere. Flegere is smaller and quieter, but
there is some nice off-piste, small bowls and trees
to ride, which can be okay in flat light. Make sure
you get to the bottom of the cable car early though
as there is only one way up and you could be queuing
for more than an hour if you time it wrong. If you've
got some cash for a guide you could do the Vallee Blanche,
which is easy boarding, but there are some nasty large
crevasses for the unsuspecting rider. For many riders
it's going to be a once in a lifetime experience. A
final area that is worth a try is La Tour at the head
of the valley. It's one of the smallest areas, with
pretty basic lifts but it can be good and there is some
off-piste potential here if you link up with the train. |

Here at Seasonaires we have aimed to make doing a season
as easy and as affordable as possible. The price you
pay Seasonaires for your trip includes all the main
expenses that would be incurred by every individual
doing a season. After these have been paid for is where
the budgeting and spending habits are different for
every person.
This is an average breakdown for the season. Not being
extravagant, but not being tight. You can either spend
more or less, its up to you!

Accident Protocol
We hope that nothing will happen and no
one will get sick but we would be silly not to prepare
for an incident. It is comforting to know that if anything
was to happen a competent reliable person is going to
be there with all the relevant information and experience
needed. All seasonaires complete a medical information
form and provide emergency contact numbers and names.
The Hospital
Is located in Chamonix Town centre. It has
a great ER service, well with 10 broken wrists and twisted
knees a day you should hope so..
Cost
As everyone will have full medical Insurance
the only cost you might incur will be if on discharge
from the hospital if they prescribe medicine from the
pharmacy. Any medicine taken before you leave the hospital
will be put on the insurance bill.
The prescriptions aren't to expensive and
most insurance policies have an excess and the cost
of prescriptions being paid for by yourself will be
classed as the excess.
How to Pay
Apart from what is prescribed to you, you
will not incur any more charges. We recommended to have
your insurance card and always carry it with you when
riding. Upon admittance to the hospital just hand over
the card and that is that. Your host will be at hand
with copies of all details that may be needed and a
friendly face to offer support.
First Aid Kits
It is advisable to take your own first
aid kit, even though there will be one available. In
your personal first aid kit you can collect the contents
that will be useful to yourself. The standard treat
at home requirements are :
Plasters, Steri strips, Steri wipes, Arnica cream (you
will have bruises), lemsip, painkillers.
A good first aid kit is available from www.thesnowboardshop.co.uk,
this contains the basic tools and will need to be personalised
with your own requirements. |

> Season Pass |
TOP |
If your Mont Blanc Season pass is included in the price
it will be ready and waiting for you when you arrive.
To make this happen we will need 2 passport sized photos
at least 12 weeks prior to departure. If they are late
then we can not guarantee your pass being ready on the
first day !
Your pass gives you full access to the Buses
and all the other resorts in the area on the valley
pass.
Be Warned! If you lose your pass you will
have to pay for a new one (unless covered by insurance)
There are EXTRAS
associated with the season pass |

Depending on what package you book travel to the resort
might be included in the price. The Snow Train is the
simplest and most hassle free way to get to the French
Alps. All return tickets are exchangeable and
refundable, allowing you the freedom to customise your
return travel date. You arrive in Bourg and then have
a 2 hr transfer to Chamonix, to you home for the winter.
Train
The Snow Train runs direct from Waterloo
Station in London to Bourg St Maurice in the Alps, then
it is a 1.5 hr transfer to resort. It is comfortable
and takes about the same time as flying and the transfer
but allows you to kick back and relax the whole way
there.
Usual dates are around Sat 9th Jan - Sat Apr 3rd, the
exact dates can vary and are not fixed until you receive
your train tickets approx 4 weeks prior to departure.
Ferry + Car
The ferry is for if you are planning to
bring your car out. There is an extra £20 charge
and then its up to you to plan your route, tolls and
petrol expenses. We provide directions for 'Toll Roads',
an 7 hr journey.
Don't forget to get the proper insurance for driving
in Europe and check the current regulations with the
AA to see what spares you will need to carry.
Plane
If you are making your own way out then
an Easyjet flight to Geneva and then a bus ride is cheapest.
Travel out midweek for best prices and book your transfer
early.
