VICCI MILLER, PRO RIDER and VERY NICE
PERSON OPTION SNOWBOARDS Last season my now 'home town' of Mammoth
it was awesome, we started
with a good base then had 16 ft of freshies in December bringing some really fun
booter and tree crashing days. Thanks to one of the best park crews in the US,
the 4 parks and two superpipes were always perfect and the rail park set up in
the trees to ride in flat light days. Its no wonder Mammoth hosts the US Open
and Vans Triple Crown as well as being the home of some of the best riders in
the world. Days are generally spent crusin the mountain and park with friends
meeting all the locals and trying not to get too blown away by the amount of sick
skiiers and riders dropping in to switch backside 9's the booter just before you.
All the English crew used to meet up and have barbies n basketball sessions in
the afternoons and the nightlife will always be amusing with the gossip rife if
you can remember what you were doing the night before. Still relatively free of
tourists during the week the town is one of the most beautiful and fun places
I know. | | ALAISTAIR

Laundry costs: The
bed linen needs be washed on a regular basis, but your clothes are up to you.
The laundry facilities in Mammoth are good, they are located in every complex
and there are 2 in the centre of town. It is $1.25 for the washing machine, 25
Cents for 15 mins in the tumble dryer and 50 Cents for a portion of washing powder.
So a total wash and dry will cost about $2.25 Towels:
Bring your own towels Drinking water: The
tap water in Mammoth is drinkable but very chlorinated. As with any foreign country
it will take a while to get used to it so it is advisable to drink bottled water.
This will cost about 75 cents a litre in Vons.
The
Electricity In the Us they run on 110V. This doesn't have the juice
to power British appliances. What you can do though is buy an inverter which provides
220V. DO NOT BUY IN ENGLAND, if you buy this in England you will pay about
£70, if you buy this in Ace hardware in mammoth you will pay $10. This device
is safe and allows the use of hairdryers, shaver and stereo. Kitchen
The kitchen will be fully equipped and available for everyone's use
at all times. As it is a common kitchen its cleanliness must be maintained at
all times by ALL seasoners. |

Resorts > Mammoth > Backcountry | TOP |
The backcountry in Mammoth is a lot more wild than its European counterparts.
By this I mean it takes a lot more skill and knowledge to safely ride the plentiful
supply of powder. One of the musts in mammoth though is the 'Hole in the Wall',
it is a natural tunnel through the rock and you can't quite grasp the concept
of its size until you are passing through. Kickers
The spots to build kickers in mammoth are actually harder to find than their European
counterparts. You have to walk that little bit further but when you are going
to be trying rodeos and superman frontflips its worth the trek. A real benefit
to kicker riding is to try tricks you wouldn't want to try in the park. There
is nothing better than a day at a kicker, knocking back in the sun and snapping
a few shots. Then once you have them dialed step into the park which is HUGE and
let rip. |

Here at Seasonaires we have aimed to make doing a season as easy
and as affordable as possible. The price you pay Seasonaires for your trip includes
all the main expenses that would be incurred by every individual doing a season.
After these have been paid for is where the budgeting and spending habits are
different for every person. This is an average breakdown for the season.
Not being extravagant, but not being tight. You can either spend more or less,
its up to you!

Certain properties might have a phone line or internet access. Check
the properties details here to see. Telephones
are simple to use and phone cards can be purchased from all Phone cards can be
bought from Vons the supermarket for $5, 10, 15, or $20. The higher the value
the less the call charges per minute. You dial via a freephone number so you get
about 18 minutes of calls for a $5 dollar card. The best thing to do though is
get the person you're ringing to ring you back! Internet - The library is
free to use for an hour a day if you join. It does get busy when everyone comes
off the hill for the day. If you have wireless capabilities then the Looney
Bean coffee shop has access. The demand for home Internet connections in Mammoth
is high and is now at limited availability. We will try our best to get connections
in all the properties but can not guarantee it. |

Hire If you want to to see a bit of LA or Renobefore you head to Mammoth
it is a good idea to hire a car. This isnt the most economical way to get to the

| > Resorts > Mammoth > Accidents | TOP |
Accident Protocol We hope that
nothing will happen and no one will get sick but we would be silly not to prepare
for an incident. It is comforting to know that if anything was to happen a competent
reliable person is going to be there with all the relevant information and experience
needed. All seasonaires complete a medical information form and provide emergency
contact numbers and names. The Hospital
Is located in the centre of town and has a very good and friendly team of ER staff.
They have full facilities and run a transfer program with Reno which has a number
of very specialist doctors/surgeons. Cost
The hospital will tell you that they are unable to bill travel insurance companies
and ask you for the money there and then. This is not strictly true. The only
cost you may incur will be if on discharge from the hospital they prescribe medicine
from the pharmacy. Any medicine taken before you leave the hospital will be put
on the insurance bill. The prescriptions aren't to expensive and
most insurance policy's have an excess and the cost of prescriptions being paid
for by yourself will be classed as the excess. How
to Pay Upon admittance you will be given a form to sign saying you
will be legally bound for the expenses. This is fine to sign as all medical expenses
will be covered by your insurance and so you will incur no charge. Upon checkout
state all you have is $1 pay that and leave your US billing address and your UK
address for billing. It will then take 14-21 days to receive the invoice which
you keep and send to your Insurance company upon return to the UK. the only criteria
to fulfill is to contact the Insurance company before or soon after the hospital
treatment to notify them. First Aid Kits
It is advisable to take your own first aid kit, even though there
will be one available. In your personal first aid kit you can collect the contents
that will be useful to yourself. The standard treat at home requirements are :
Plasters, Steri strips, Steri wipes, Arnica cream (you will have bruises), lemsip,
painkillers. A good first aid kit is available from www.thesnowboardshop.co.uk,
this contains the basic tools and will need to be personalised with your own requirements.

Pubs/Bars The legal drinking age in
the states is 21, this for the home, bbq or in a bar. You will need your passport
or driving license to get served in a bar or a supermarket!! Last season
Lakanuki was the bar of choice for most Seasonaires. It serves good food and has
Stella and Guinness on tap. If a Guinness connoisseur then do not go near it in
the states. It generally comes with too much head, and look out for the spoon!!!
However, Laka's is a good night out with loads of different things going on throughout
the season. There is also the Infamous "Whisky Wednesday" also
known as "Wanker Wednesday". Did someone say a sausage fest?! A good
laugh and pretty much destined to be a messy, hazy night out. For laid back
drinking, eating and pool there are a few other bars and restaurants in town.
Clocktower, for pool and jugs with the locals. Dublin's / Fever for a traditional
Irish / American bar club. Roberto's, for margaritas and Mexican. Concerts
Mammoth Mtn put on some good concerts, US Crush and Pennywise were there
this year with the Mosh Pit resembling something out of AmericanHistoryX. |
