Hopefully due to the fact that you all have come together because of a joint passion for the winter you will have things in common. One of the biggest bonuses about doing a season is meeting new people and making close friends. I am sure that in 3 months there will be some flare ups and clashes but its to be expected. Persistent troublemakers will not be tolerated and will be evicted from the property and have to fund their own accommodation.

US-
When it storms in Mammoth it drops about a foot an hour, so often they shut all but the bunny slopes if it is a big storm.

FR- Yes, newly built. No info on prices as yet
US- Yes, numerous. About $5 an hour

FR- The town can be a lot of fun after the lifts have shut. When it snows lots we have built kickers to jib bins, little railslides to practice on and some people even jump cars!
US- Mammoth Lakes is nestled in the foothills so a 20 min hike any direction will take you to an okay spot. Or, you can climb onto the roof of a condo, construct a ramp down and then shape a quarter pipe, great fun.

Is there a skate park or pipe?
FR- Yes, there are 2 situated in Bourg. One is an outdoor park with rails, tabletop and 3 quarters. The other is a big indoor halfpipe with a small street section. What are the parks like?

FR- Les Arcs is the home of the A-Team and they have someone who designs the park. They have been improving over the years, last year the area allocated for the 'Surf Park' doubled. The downside, the halfpipes tend to be more half squares!
US- The Unbound Terrain Parks are awesome! There is something for every level of rider. " superpipes (14 ft), 1 standard pipe. 3 Parks with a variety of boxes, step downs, spines and rails, ranging from 10ft to 70ft.

Are you allowed to go off piste, or will we lose our passes?
FR-They tend to be quite lax in Europe and as long as you aren't putting other peoples lives in danger then you should be fine.
US-If you cut ropes or ignore safety signs, then Yes. You WILL have your pass revoked and you WILL be arrested and charged. They are very strict on this but it is only for signs within Mammoth Mtns boundaries. US-Everyones experience is different, but I say that Americans are the nicest people in the world. They will go out of their way to help you.

Is there an attitude in the parks or on the mountain generally?
Attitude if any seems to be limited to the board parks. It is the same everywhere you go. There are safety protocols about dropping into the pipe and lining up for a jump. The problem is when a rider gets 'GOOD', they seem to think these rules don't apply to them and just snake in all over the place, because all the 'SHIT PEOPLE' take too long and fall over. EVERYONE was shit once.
